Questions on a 56
Questions on a 56
Hello all. New to the forum. Just traded my 59 for a 56 last month. Kinda confused on what the cowl tag says and the VIN shows. Cowl tag says it's a 57-3669D but vin decides as 56? Also color codes are t31-60? Thanks for letting me join .

Welcome to Classic Olds Forum. Color codes 31 is Canton Green and Code 60 is Alcan White. If you can get a picture of the cowl tag maybe I or someone else in the Vintage section can help with that. There are many '56 Owners here, and there's a section called '54-'56 Owners unite that will give you a good idea of how many owners are on here for these models.
Just found some information that states that 3669D on Cowl Tag means 1956 Super 88 4 Door Sedan. Best of Luck, Larry

What the ...
Style 57-3669D should be a 1957 Super 88 Four Door Sedan- Kansas City, Kansas Plant
If it is a 56, it should be 56-3669D- from either Arlington Texas or Wilmington Del depending on the VIN # .
We need to see the VIN.
Duh- Or a picture of the car

That data plate shows "BF," which is a Framingham, MA Fisher Body number.
Larry, that sure is a '56 Super 88. The VIN should say 568B XXXX

Does the Fisher plate have white paint? It looks like bare aluminum in the photo, but should be painted the same as the cowl. I am wondering if it may have been swapped at some time for reasons unknown.
ETA: You can look for date codes on a few components to get an idea of production date. The radiator and starter on our '56 are consistent with late February or early March production.

Fusick has the front emblems and I bought one from them and it looks great.
I'll keep looking.
BTW: You should get a Fusick Catalog.
