Part availability 54 Olds new member
Hello to all!
Tedd Thompson suggested I use this forum along with 'Vintage' . New to Classic Oldsmobile. Introduced myself just now in the Newbie Forum. I'm a mopar guy as you can tell by my name. However, growing up, we had a 54 Olds Ninety Eight 324, Hydro. Good Car. I'm looking for another vehicle, but something different from 60's muscle. Came across 54 Olds Super 88, org eng/trans as our '98. Started to look availability replacement parts. Rock Auto -some parts, the AutoZones-O Reillys, minimal. Are there other part vendors like an Andy Bernbaum for earlier mopar out there for similar Olds era? Appreciate any info/direction
Thx
Dad-Par

Welcome to the forum!
I had some luck here: https://www.fusickautomotiveproducts.com
I’ve also had to resort to wrecking yards and a guy on this forum that has a parts car!
What condition is your ’88 in?

Don has given you about the same advice I would give. The are some of us on here lost in the fifties as Tedd would say. John (2blu442) has parted out a couple 54 and probably still has a few parts left. Posting in the classified parts wanted section might help. We would love to see some pictures of your car. This is a good place for technical help also. Tedd knows more than any of us but most of us have done things on these old cars and can tell you how not to do something.

Hi John, this is Val up Table Rock road from you in Medford. Can't find my way around on this site well. Did not get a response on my need for 98 script for the deck lid on my 54, 98 Holliday. Let me know if you hear of a source. Val
Got it fixed now the part I got from Old buick parts is correct.. 53, 54 and 55 ninety eight deck lid script is correct if anyone needs the parts.

Val again, I did buy script for, (what was advertised on a site called oldbuickparts) 1953 through 1955 olds 98 trunk and fender script. It was wrong. totally different for 54. My script is about 6" long and theirs was about 4" long and different style. I'm thinking of plugging the holes for the script posts and drilling in new ones for these 53 or 55's that I bought. Give me a call when you get a chance.
Looked closer at the script that was sent to me from Old buick parts and the 53 through 55 olds "ninety eight" does fit my 54 Holiday. I discovered that the "ninety eight" is all on the right side of the deck lid molding and Oldsmobile is on the left. I originally thought the ninety was on the left and eight on the right. I put the script pn and it looks good. now I need the OLDSMOBILE part.
Hope everyone that read the note I left reads my correction.

Thanks to All for the info. I mentioned in org post that I'm looking at/ considering this 54. Have not committed/bought vehicle. Just looking further down the road for avail of replacement parts. Would look to use this as a cruiser/sometime daily driver. That said , just one example, basic dependability/safety is up front. Found wheel cylinder rebuild kits, but have not found Master cyl itself avail or rebuild kit and don't know at this time condition of brake drums or/and have not found replacement drums.
Will continue search at sources you all have provided.
Thanks
Dad-Par

AS far as the master cylinder goes are we talking treadle vac or regular non boosted master? Fusick or USA Parts should have the master and probably the drums. They maybe more expensive so check around....Tedd.
Checkout the Oldsmobile page on https://www.vintagepartsource.com. A large list of vintage Oldsmobile parts suppliers with info on what they carry.

You can get any of the brake parts from Kanter Auto Products. I have never bought from them but I just got one of their catalogs. They do have new brake drums and I am sure they are made in China but most brake parts are now. Just another possibility.
Be advised , of course, that my N.O.S. & NEW U.S.A. made products are FAR Superior to the
Chineseum products of the world, and frequently my price is the same or better !!!!!!
Plus, mine don't have the coronavirus...... Keep AMERICA GREAT !!!!!!!!

Another source for some parts others may not carry: https://www.kanter.com/index.aspx Kanter Auto Products. Use the drill down and see if anything strikes your fancy.
Hi Dad-Par; I went an entirely in a different direction with my 54 Ninety eight Holiday 98. I used a 93 Chevy Caprice frame and chasis assembly and put the olds body on that frame work.. Was very easy and with all the modern stuff too. Contact me if you want info.
