New from Holland

Hi there,

My name is Marcel and I live in The Hague (Netherlands).
Officialy I shouldn`t be a member yet until next Saturday. Then…the following thing is going to take place:
I`m going to swap my bike (Kawasaki Vulcan 1500) to a 1976 Olds 98 Regency sedan with the Olds 350 engine.

I CAN`T WAIT

My former cars were:

- 1977 Ford Mustang II Ghia 302
- 1963 Ford F100 292ci FlareSide
- 2005 Suzuki Ignis 1500 (Wife`s car)

After the swap I’l only drive it (my wife is at the end of her pregnancy). Within 2 or 3 weeks a`ll be a father of a doughter and will be banished to my garage …to think about tuning the Olds…

question

Hello Marcel,

Welcome to C.O. forums, the avatar seems to show a 1977-1979 98 is this the car that you own? Not trying to be critical, but my dad had 1976 98 regency brougham sedan, purchased from Lansing product delivery, Oldsmobile company car! 455 cube was the only option.

Given that you have a 350 I would go with what your avatar shows, options were 403, 350 gasers and a 350 diesel option.

Hi Pat,
This is correct. This car was imported from the US to holland in 1978. The licenceplatenumber says 1973 and the identificationpapers says also 1973. A number 3 looks a bit like a number 8. That is why i think that the governmentguy who`s responsible for the identification in 1978 mixt up those numbers by accident. There`s no turning back. Now ik can tell people this car was a prototype...lol...
The guy who i`m giong to switch my bike with sent me the photo`s of all te numbers (incl. VIN) to me and i have checked them. They really made this misstake...
I guess...this all is due to the seventies...

Yeah, I did a few things in the seventies that are hard to explain now, too...

Welcome!
