dead battery

I spoke to soon about nearing the end of my to do list.
Went to take the car out to wash it and it was dead.
I jinxed myself the other day commenting how good the battery is in this car and that I've never had trouble cranking it over.
At least it had the good sense to die in my driveway.

After trying to charge the battery and checking every connection, I went out and picked up a new battery.
I've never had a battery die with no warning signs before. It went from great to won't charge up. I've had them not hold a charge, but this one is just dead.
Oh well...I got one with a 9 year warranty so one less thing to worry about.

Getting up early tomorrow and driving 2 hours to attend a car show and swap meet. I've got the old girl shined up and ready to go. Hoping for an uneventful trip!!

Indeed, batteries can be odd things. It's good you checked your battery connections first, since they are frequently to blame. Buying batteries is like buying socks; once you find some that you really like , and you go back to buy more, they've changed brands or manufacturers.

Very nice looking presentation. None of those cars looks dead. In fact I think the nostalgia of older designs is going to make a comeback in the near future.

All but one of my batteries in my life went from great to dead.
How old was yours?

Glad it happened at home like mine usually do. Glad it happened before you went on a long trip, too!

My motorcycle battery did the same. Had it 5.5years+, no issue. Went to start up to begin a 400 mile 2 day trip, and it was flat. Ironically the night before I was asking myself what would I do if that battery died during a long trip. GLAD it happend in my garage.

I took Lady instead and had a great time (though it was HOT!)
