56 Olds throttle/jetaway linkage
Hey guys does anyone have or know of a parts car (56) with a jetaway? My kickdown linkage near the carb is missing some parts and a spring. Basically the kickdown doesn't work because I need these parts. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

Is the linkage much different than a 54-55 with a slant pan? Years ago (30 or more) I helped a friend put a jetaway in a 55 and I don't remember us changing any linkage. If there isn't any or much you could look for parts that would be easier than a 1/2 year of manufacture..... Tedd

I have attached an illustration and several pages from the 1963 Olds Master Parts Book. The illustration is of a 1958 Olds but is typical of a 1956 and the group numbers should be the same. It is the oldest such illustration in the book.
A quick study shows that many of the linkage parts may only fit 1956 Olds with type "O" trans only . But other parts may also fit other models and years .
Good luck on your search.

My concern about a illustration and comparison for a 57 or 58 would be the one inch approximate higher deck height that would or might change the linkage pieces where the 54-55 is working with the same height motor..... Or I could be way over thinking this.... Tedd

One would use the illustration to find a similar part , and then take the group number (four digit) to the parts list to see the actual years / models that the actual part numbers fit.
In the GM parts system the four digit group numbers describe all parts with a similar function . For example , all water pumps will be in group 1.069 . Illustrations will typically have group numbers .
The parts list has all the groups in order and under that group you would find the year and model and the actual part number.

Thank you for the help! Unfortunately I can already see from the photo that the linkage is different than the 56. The kickdown for the O Hydramatic is right in front of the linkage on the carb, not all the way back towards the firewall like in the picture.
