56' Olds 88 Missing Cowl Tag

Me and my Father are restoring a 56' 88 coupe for the last couple of years and at some point the cowl tag got lost and we want to press a new one. And we are also looking for the location put the tag on an AC car, the photos that we find show the tag where the AC unit is on the firewall.

Hello and welcome! We're happy to have you here! We would very much like to see some pictures of your car.

I also have a '56 with factory A/C (referred to as CAC in your parts and service manuals). I can tell you that there are a lot of things in a CAC car that "ain't where they're supposed to be". The horns are on the right side, not the left side, and the power brake cylinder can only be accessed from the wheel well, not from above. The water pump is different and all the heater/defroster cables are different. But you probably already know most of that after two years of restoration.

As for the cowl tag, mine is on the passenger side, above the heater fan motor. I never noticed if it was in a different location than non CAC cars. Learn something every day! I can take a picture for you if you'd like.

Keep in touch- We have a great vintage section on this site and we're here to help and to learn! "We're all in this together"
