48 Has the Shakes

Hello again,

Next chapter in this "project". I feel I may have a bad torque converter. When you start to accelerate the entire car shakes like crazy.

Can you please tell me what the symptoms of a bad torque converter are? Are these 1948 transmissions easily re-buildable?

Could this also be bad motor mounts?

Not my era of car, but I don't think they had a regular Hydro-matic torque converter in that early of car, maybe a torus?...Tedd

Of you have a 48 Hydramatic it should not have toque converter.

”Easy” rebuildable is not, but also not impossible.

Check this wonderful video series of Prof. John Kelly.

Could it be bad mounts? Yes. Could be a bound up joint in the driveshaft.

Does it shake if the car isn't moving and the engine is revved?

Good luck!!!
