67 cutlass with 2 speed auto

Why is it so expensive to put a manual trans in? Id love a 4 speed manual. Could just leave the column shifter where it is, cut a hole in the floor for the stick and everything. But why does it all cost so much? Ive hearf people say itll cost me lile 7500 including labor.

I think the biggest cost is to do it right you need to have the crank drilled for a Manuel witch at that point you need to rebalance and might as wells kick in then your looking at a engine over haul. i would think you could round up most parts for around 3000.00 but I am not positive

Why is it so hard to install a 4 speed?
Because its so damn easy to put in an automatic instead!
I have passed up 4 speed cars before because I have had enough of them to know I have nothing to prove to the world with pushing the clutch in and out 500 times on Main Street during a cruise!

It seems to me that you could buy a running car that already had a 4 spd for $7500.

Maybe that price includes the MIGHTASWELL engine rebuild as part of pulling the crank to drill it.
