help me identify this please
1966 toronado barn find. it is connected to the throttle linkage and wired to the transmission. My guess is its a transmission kick down. doesnt show up on my wiring diagram shows up in the transmission section of my manual refered to as the stator..but cant find anything else. what is it and what would the symptoms of it failing be...looks like mice have been at the wiring.

It controls electrical downshift on a TH400 as well as torque converter stator angle on a switch-pitch. Used 65-67. One switch used on 88/98/Cutlass, another on Toronado. There are standard and trailer towing versions of each.
Two obvious symptoms if it's bad or out of adjustment: 1) trans will not downshift and 2) off-the-line performance will be sluggish due to wrong stator angle. Right now I can't remember whether it's stuck in high angle or low angle that causes poor off-the-line acceleration.
