Can somebody tell the the bolt sizes and lengths for the flexplate, torque converter and tranny mounting bolts. Its for a 71 455/th400, all old bolts are gone and I would like to order new arp bolts
Also Im 50/50 on dropping the engine and tranny together or putting tranny in first. Is it possible to drop both together without scratching engine bay or firewall? Any input appreciated.

I went to my local tranny shop to get the bolt's the deealer was out of them. I dont rember what size but and there is a grading of them too . I was able to put a 400 pontiac and th 350 in my 66 lemans by myself and didnt make a mark. I had stock 67 gto iron manifolds
a picker with a worm-gear tilter.

Here is a short version of my install Ya I know its not a olds but im still proud
as you can see in the one shot the engine bay was blue I cleaned it up and painted it black as it should be. I would recommend a second set of hands I I started on a slow week end and before I knew it I had it on the hook and free air .

 

Thanks for input, but Im still 50/50 the hoist I have does not tilt. I have used them before and that is a big help. Nice 66!

I've done both, engine/transmission together or separate. If you've detailed the engine compartment I would definately put them in separate! You have to have the car higher to insert the transmission tail under the firewall, and the chances of wacking something is much greater with them together. Unless you've removed the core support and will be able to poke them straight in. I still think it's safer to put the engine in through the top and the transmission in from underneath. John
