those aftermarket suppliers are good, TCI is another notable one. suggestion: find a local trans. shop with the Auto. Trans. Rebuild. Assoc.(ATRA), logo next to their add. or on the sign. talk to those dudes, they could hook you up with something descent. might reuse you'rs as a core and beef it up. convertors, they can dial that in for you too. probably slightly over factory stall speed, who knows? lots of variables. i always heard if you go to much in that area it makes the car a b**ch to drive around town, in the summer, stop lights. hows vegas? i live in the capitol, have a '76 cutls. suprm. brog. w/455, TH400 and 3.42 diff., put the FE2 susp. from a 442 in it. one of the nicest improvements was installing a AGR 12:1 steering box/new hoses, man what a difference in handling. it's white and mahogany with that trippy lamancha pattern pillow seat interior. has SS III's on it with BFG T/A P22560's. i don't drive it much, because nevada's economy is preventing it. i used one of these local trans shops to do the TH400 in my delta 88(med. shaft), they did a great job, didn't cost a ton of money. that was in 1999, still works good too. i pulled it out and kept it when i off'd my delta in favor of the cutlass. they said they could go through it and change the output shaft and rebuild it for about $600.00. i got a good convertor from a '73 98 that i pulled the 455 out of, i'll use that one when i get another cutlass someday maybe, who knows. camshaft also has something to do with trans. operation. i know you can do like a .420" intake lift and a .445" exaust with a 112 dgr, C/L and maybe 200 degrs. dur. @ .050"(110 # springs), factory type hyd. lifters, in a 350 with 8.5 to 1 comp. along with an edelbrock EGR manifold and q-jet(hope i got all those #'s right). that combo works with factory torque convrtr., A/C, power brakes, and that vacuum stuff going to the A/C controlls. idled at factory setting/timing and got ok fuel economy, for a 4,300 pound car('76 D-88 4-door). also had the HEI re-curved, maybe that helped, probably didn't hurt.

I agree, I wouldn't go over a 2000 stall for your set up if it were me.

If you go with a 2200-2400 converter, you will get a better launch off the line.
