rebuild ow trans/ buy new

Hey, so I'm looking at removing the orig. trans to the w-30 as it needs rebuilding ( seals).
What are your thoughts as I'm having trouble..

1- remove trans. put in a bag and store it for safe keeping. Install performance th400?
2- rebuild/ install original unit.

rebuild I don't think you will get that much more out of performance TH400 than you can by tweaking the one you have.

Well I should have said, I don't have enough faith in the shops around here. Especially 3 friends of mine had issues at every shop around me.

Thinking maybe doing a overdrive, 4l80e

Option 1. That is what I plan to do to mine so that when it is time to sell the W30, I will say "...there is its original number matching OW".
Also, unless you really trust your local shop, what if they accidentally screw something internally or mess with the OW tag.
