Last May I bought shifter cable from summit racing, part#y117. But shifter still stuck bitween P &R not lock at P and i read from this site article said that olds. Shifter cable is diferent than other GM cars so i ordered excact cable from ebay not for duel gate shifter and still have the same problem. My car is 68 cutlass floor consle.

It appears your cable is not getting the full travel it requires.... It's possible the cable bracket that mounts to the trans using two of the pan bolts is either bent or miss located....

Please keep us updated on your progress, I am getting ready to convert my 66 Cutlass over to a 67-69 Cutlass floor shift design. All of my components came from the same vehicle, so I hope everything works out. I have the luxury of being able to mount the floor shift assembly wherever it needs to be to get full range of the cable. I have seen posts about where others have modified the slot in the trans shift arm bracket that comes out the side and others have made an extension piece for the end of the cable to give more length. Hopefully things work out. Let us all know.

IT IS 31 1/2" LONG AND HAS A 19 " MOUNTING DISTANCE BETWEEN U-CLIPS.

Is this a correct length ?

Several aftermarket restoration houses sell the correct cable(s). F bodies as well as other GM A bodies use the same cable for a number of years with console shift. The bracket mounted on the trans pan rail can be hard to find.
Looks like 67-68 is a 2 year wonder. Then 69-72 are grouped together. Dual gate cables differ in both cases. Look at The Parts Place web site for specifics. No listings for 65-66 shift cables.
You may have the 2 speed cable? Not sure if they are different but Id think so.

I will tell you that a 69 trans to back drive and floor cable attachment mount is
a one year only unit. I had heck finding another, here's a pic. Another kicker is
it has a tapered back drive rod at the bottom. Not squared off like the 70-72's.

From the view of your second photo, it appears that your cable is not properly mounted to the bracket.... It should be mounted into the slot of the bracket, which from the view of the photo would move the cable forward about a 1/4" or so which may give you enough travel to go into the park position..... If that doesn't work, it may be the wrong bracket....

The T400 bracket is different than the T350 bracket. Should be stamped on the bracket? Use a brake line clip to secure the shifter cable to the bracket, and the same at the shifter end..

Last pic. Is the first time I put it in and shifter stuck between P and R so I moved it little back out of bracket .
