‘67 th 400 other problem

Hi guys
my transmission have a problem, oil is ok, but the D and R not go.

I started to feel a buzz, with the pump, aspiring oil, gas when I gave the buzz grew and before long it was like the olds in N, the gears do not fit anymore.

What can be?

It can be a lot of different things, it may need a front pump to a complete rebuild. Transmissions, outside of a whine in low gear, should be relatively quiet.

Ok, lets start over. If you put it in drive it makes noise and will not move the car? Same in reverse? The transmission fluid does not look or smell burnt, but a bright red/pink color?

When you check the fluid level with the engine warmed up and running in park, it's to the full mark on the dipstick?

when they are idle about 1000 rpm it feels like a buzz, much like the noise of the power steering pump, then I insert the D noise decreases and the Olds moves, if I repeat this a few times, stops and goes for a few minutes.

oil is red and clean
I checked the oil in N and the level is ok, he switched off the engine oil is more a sign that the pump works.

could be the converter? is the 67 I have not replaced

Is there anyone in the transmission business in Italy? I think you have problems, but it's hard to diagnose from here! If it's the original trans, then it probably is a switch pitch T400. Which means it has a variable vane torque converter. The actuating switch is on the throttle linkage near the firewall, it controlls the torque converter and has the kickdown switch built into it. It can be any number of things internal.

Sounds like the converter from the symptoms you describe. Although the whine is usually the pump. Maybe a combination.

yes, there are workshops that deal with trasmission but the problem is that they want $ 2500 to get my hands on it.
I prefer to do, it will take me longer, but I prefer.
the switch next to the firewall is active.
the converter has more than forty years is the only thing that I have not changed..

Then I would start with the converter. You will need to either get your rebuilt, or get another switch pitch converter. Someone on here may have one. Post a request under parts wanted.

Did you get your governer repaired the last time you had problems? If I remember correctly your gear was worn out.

i check the oil pressur on the professional manometer

pressure in N-P 65 TO 70 is perfect
pressure in D 65 is perfect
pressure in S 70 minum is perfect
pressure in L 65 TO 70 is perfect
pressure in R 100 minum is perfect

the oil pump is OK!!!!

replaced the vacum modulator and the buzz is terminated!!!!!
The car started to move without slipping but not changed gear, so I opened the governor house and I found a nice surprise.

the governor was still broken in the same way as last time.

How can two governors in less than 500 miles?

both were used, this may be the cause?

I'm happy to have found the fault but I do not give a proper explanation.

Hopefully this one does not eat itself, earlier I ruled that out as you had just repaired it. Glad you rechecked!
