Shifter/cable question

Hi guys, (71 cutlass supreme 455cid th400, center console)

My shifter cable broke yesterday, and i got it out of the car just now.
I always wanted a new shifter too because I don't really like how you have to pull up the T on the original shifter.

So I was looking around a bit and the hurst duall gate shifter really got my attention, a bit too expensive though but nice non the less. But I also understand that the center console needs some cutting in order to fit it?

also wanted to know if I needed any special mounting brackets to install it?

So this is what I need?
http://www.opgi.com/p/transmission/2...0/CT20053.html (shifter)
http://www.opgi.com/p/transmission/1...0/C240557.html (bracket)
http://www.opgi.com/p/interior-trim/...4/C240878.html (cable)

Last question, Are there any nice alternatives for the shifter? cause the duall gate is really expensive. I also would like something that works really good with the center console.

This is my center console:

Thnx in advance,
Clint

You also need your neutral safety switch

I think this is the right one for the shifter you are looking at.

Ok guys,

I've decided to go with the hurst v matic 2 shifter and make it so that my console accepts it like this guy did: https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...extra-gear.jpg

The kit also comes with a cable and neutral/reverse switch so no worries about that either.
