First glance looks like you've got the fix-it bearing to install in an automatic transmission crank. Here's a link to an old thread that has pictures and details on how the crank should be cut for a factory pilot bearing or bushing.

https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...ans-crank.html

Let us know if this answers your questions or just raises more!

I got to thinking... do you still have the bad transmission? It may have had the input shaft cut short if you do have an automatic crank in your engine.

this crank is already in the engine I'm trying to locate a 1.7 bearing to put in it. so what you are telling me that this is a automatic crank.

OK, good so you have enough depth in the crankshaft for the input, but not the diameter for the standard bearing or bushing.

Supercarsunlimited has the bearing you probably need. Here's a link to their web site:

Well, you've got some choices. You could re-use the shortened input shaft from the old transmission. Bob the end of the input shaft on the replacement transmission. Drill a deeper hole in the crankshaft... not advised without removing the crank and should be done on a lathe rather than drill. Cut the crankshaft with a lathe to use the factory bearing/bushing if you end up pulling the crank.

The search function here isn't the most user friendly, but this issue has come up several times in the past. You could read through post of what others have done to deal with this situation.

Well, I've known one person who has done that. The risk is if you don't get it perfectly centered then the crank will be out of balance. So I wouldn't recommended it but that's your call on if you want to give it a try or not.

I got so focused on the question that I forgot to say welcome to the site! There's a few other members here with 1970 W30's, I'm not one of them but I'd enjoy seeing photos of your car when you have time.

No, the bearing should be tapped into place with a large socket or something similar that only presses against the outside ring of the bearing. The ***** in the bearing are fine the way they come out of the box.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with that transmission. You might create a new thread asking who has experience with it. Is the location of the cross member the problem, or does it have a mount that won't fit on the cross member location? If you could mention that and even add a photo if possible that may help others provide the info you need.

Okay guys I'm back. Right now I have a demon 750 on my 455; the Demon needs to be rebuilt. I'm having a lot of issues with it. I'm considering replacing the demon altogether. Anybody have any ideas on what is the best carburetor to get for these old school cars.

What intake is on it? If it's set up for a spreadbore, run a Rochester, if not then a Holley or rebuild your Demon.

You can run any carb on that manifold. I can't run an Edelbrock on my car due to clearance issues and the lack of drop base air cleaner availability. I've been using a Holley 3310 and it's performed flawlessly for the past 2 years. The Holley 770 Street Avenger has been popular on other sites. I also like Rochesters, they are economical to run and sound awesome @ WOT. So it really boils down to your personal preference.

Why not rebuild the Demon?

I really don't know what's going on with my car. It runs but the engine doesn't sound like should I think it's between the carburetor and the timing. The car will run, it starts up with no problem, but during idol it doesn't run smoothly. At all.
