I recently installed an engine and 200R4 transmission in my 65 Cutlass. I thought this info may be helpful and save time when installing the parking brake cable. I realize there are different ways of doing this but I was happy with the results.

I had installed part # C990140 (OPGI) 64-72 front SS cable (TH350 & manual 45'), p. 226 Spring 2016 catalog, in the car. This leaves 25 in +/- in. out of the frame and puts the threaded part a little beyond the crossmember. The original 104 in intermediate cable is too long. After taking measurements and doing a mock up with the old cable I contacted Dorman and obtained intermediate cable C93096 (100 inches long and this includes the ferals. Then I drilled a hole .032 in diameter to accommodate the large guide(C990243, p. 226 for ref.) approx. 18 inches towards the driveshaft measured from the crossmember mounting bolts to the frame; passenger side. I then applied paint to the hole as the crossmember had been refinished.

Then I cut a piece of tubing and put it over the threaded adjustment part of the front cable as an anti-rattle measure since this rests on the upper side of the crossmember. Then I assembled the cable and other parts including the two smaller guides. There are holes on the under body to attach the smaller guides. Then I performed the adjustment and checked for clearances of the cable, etc. with the driveshaft, speedometer cable, etc. The intermediate cable is symmetrical and looks good.
