Dual Gate Shifter Install

I have a 1972 442 with the automatic floor console. I would like to change it to a dual gate setup. Besides having to modify the console is there any other modifications I will need to make or parts needed besides the shifter cable, top plate?

I think the cable mount at the transmission and the ear on the transmission selector shaft are different. I'm not 100% certain of that as I have a factory installed DG so I'm just going by memory of what I have read about conversions over the years.

I did this swap a couple of years ago. I did not have to change the bracket on the transmission.

What was needed:
modify console
new chrome insert and woodgrain
top plate
shifter
shifter ball
floor brackets
light bulb housing
cable
pin to attach cable to shifter

If you buy the complete shifter it should have most of those parts already. The screws to hold the top plate are available at Home Depot. They are stainless machine thread screws. I also swapped the vinyl sticker wood grain that was on the top plate with an H&H piece.

So far it deosn't sound like much of a challenge. Pretty much unbolt what I have put in dual gate hook up the cable to trans, modify console. Am i missing anything? Do other holes need to be made in floor or anything?

Thank you for the information so far.

Yes, you have to drill holes in the floor for the shifter mounting brackets.

Ok, that's not a problem. I guess this one has a different mounting bracket then the regular floor shifter.
