Had the same problem, junk it. Mine was so bowed it left no converter end play. Mine also had the ring gear welded on , off center and crooked to make it run true.

I’ve never needed to buy an aftermarket flexplate for my cars. I’ve always been able to source factory pieces if there was damage (which is not common). I think I’ve got three known good spares and I really don’t consider myself a hoarder. Am I just in a minority and buying aftermarket flexplates is common place now? Even so, the quality control of the aftermarket pieces must be non existent based on reports.

I dunno what reports you're basing your thoughts on but at least in regards to the ATI, it's a good quality aftermarket piece. Been behind my motor for 5+ years and was a perfect fit/function install right from the box. AND it's a bit cheaper now at $227 than I paid then ($250-ish).

No man, you’re misunderstanding. My response was intended for the OP’s part.

I've had good luck with aftermarket flex plates. Flexplates sometimes can be a bit not flat, it usually is not an issue unless there is interference.
