455 flex plate...

Was wondering what most guys are using for a flex plate? Externally or internally balanced? Engine will produce 450/475 hp.

Thanks!
Steve...

The 455 is externally balanced unless you changed it. That means an externally balanced flex plate. If internal balanced it would be neutral balanced and have no weights.

For a street car in the 450/475hp range a regular old stock external balance flexplate is fine.

I agree, I make way over 500HP when I use Nitrous, never had any problems with a stock flexplate or anything else for the last 25 years.

Oh, my engine is externally balanced.
