Will it hurt?

The hydramatic is out of my 59 and I'm ready to clean and paint it. I'd like to turn it and set it down on end on the torus. That way I could have access to all of it to clean and paint. Question is, will this damage anything other than my back or cause any other harmful effects? Also, seems it dumps more fluid every time glance at it. Should I be ready for a flood of fluid.

The oil is probably from the torque converter. It won't hurt anything to stand it up just remember to fill it up again. I assume you have removed the oil pan. cheers

The pan is still on but I did drain it. Think I'll leave it on until I get it on end. Thanks for the reply!

It'll keep draining...... Tranny fluid has lots of places to hide!
By torus, do you mean the bell housing? That's absolutely no worry. The tail housing is a bit worrysome since the shaft sticks out. Just make sure not to drop it.
