What Type of ATF?

Going to swap converters in a few weeks and I am wondering what AFT everyone is using. Trans was rebuilt a few years ago and and I ran Redline LWR ATF. (recommended by the builder) TH400 Mostly street use but it will see the strip too...

@ the end of the day wondering if Redline is that much of a superior product...

Thanks

Joe

Dex/Merc III is the modern ATF most compatible with the fluids these transmissions were designed for.
An old trick is to use *one* quart of Type F in a GM tranny for firmer shifts.

A quality Dev/Merc III is just fine if you take care of the tranny. Move up to synthetic if it'll get hot or won't get serviced. No need to do anything exotic on this front.

I've heard of using Type F for firmer shifts as well. FWIW, if you go to the parts store most of the "house brands" are universal now (i.e. Dexron/Mercon III, Type F and ATF+4). The only ATF I've used recently was in my 2011 Ford Flex and I put the Motorcraft fluid in it (apparently it has gold dust in it since it's so expensive).
