TV Cable Adjustment

I am having some issue with my tv cable adjustments on my Custom Cruiser and Toronado. I followed the factory service manual instructions on how to reset the cable...I held the button in, pushed the clip all the way in, then moved the throttle lever all the way to WOT and released. Problem is I'm not sure exactly how much of the clip is supposed to pop out. In my Toronado it didn't seem to pop out at all...I drove it and it shifted a lot different...harder and from what it seemed, at higher speeds. I did the same on the Cruiser (the original setting had the clip out about 1/4 in or so) and it popped out 1 click...alot less than it was originally.

They both have the 307 and the CC has the 200R4 and the Toro has the 325-4L.

I just don't want to damage anything....ugh, any help would be great...thank you!

Looks like I got it figured out. I wasn't pulling the throttle lever ALL the way back...it's just weird that the service manual tells you how to do it, just doesn't say what the ideal setting is...haha

It does take a little bit of persuasive force to get them to move. Were you moving the throttle at the carb or at the gas pedal?

It does indeed! haha

I moved the throttle from the engine compartment...I've read to do it from inside but my GM manual had a warning on the page to only do it from the carb lever.
