For some reason, my transmission is spewing out fluid out of the dipstick tube. I dont know if it's because the cooler lines are next to the headers and it heating up the fluid a lot or what. Does anyone have any idea's on what it could be? I just ordered new lines to reroute them. Could it maybe be the transmission filter? One other thing, it doesn't spew out the fluid until after the engine is heated up. I can drive it around and then after about 10 minutes of driving it just basically volcanoes out.

Did this probelm start without changing anything on the car? Are you sure the fluid level is correct? Sounds to me like you might have too much fluid in the transmission.

 

there is a breather tube on top of the transmission 1/4" round tube. I had this problem in my jeep pickup with a turbo 400. A piece of road dirt got stuck in the tube and pressurized the tranny and the fluid spewed out another guy in our jeep club told me to check this and when I cleaned it the problem stopped. Weird but true

 

well I know there isn't too much fluid because it would drain out so much the transmission wouldn't even shift. It started when I put the engine back in after a rebuild. I am told by a few transmission shops it could be that I did somethign to the torque converter when I put the engine back in.

 

Torque converter back check valve could be leaking. It would allow the fluid to drain back into the pan when engine is off and could come out the dipstick tube. My guess is the breather is clogged as was mentioned in a previous post. You may have gotten some crud on the tube and clogged it up.

 

From the '64 Olds manual for the 2 speed Jetaway transmission:
"Oil forced out of filler tube"
1) Oil level too high, foaming caused by planet carrier running in oil.
2) Water in oil.
3) Leak in pump suction circuits.
I saw this once on a '56 Buick Dynaflow. My Dad junked the car....

The Slimjim transmissions 1961-1964 had a ballcheck at the bottom of the filler tube.There is a weak spring holding the ballcheck open so you can add fluid. Any time the pressure in the tranny exceeds ambient the spring is supposed to collapse and keep fluid from exiting thru the filler tube. They can stick open due to crud buildup.
I don't know about yours but it's worth a look.
If you find that to be the cse let us know.
