Transmission Fluid

I have a 1970 supreme with the th350. The pan gasket is leaking and I am going to replace it. I have enough Mercon V to replace the fluid, but I don't know if that type of fluid will be fine in my transmission. Any body know?

Isn't Mercon a F__d fluid? Or is that F__d-speak for Dextron?

Your car uses Dextron.

If it's Dexron/Mercon it should be fine.

Dexron. No T

Or maybe he drives a Four Forty Two.

I believe it should be Dexron. Dex/Merc is also fine.
Even the newer Dexron would work, but its expensive. Dexron VI is of a slightly lower viscosity than compared to Dex III, but over time it loses less viscosity than Dex III. However with the way we drive our cars, Dex III might be the way to go.
