If i manuel shift, shifts good and hard in all gears. When trans is in drive wont go to third! Ordered a new adjustable vacuum modulator today. Any other ideas, and yes linkage is correct.

Pop the cover off the govenor. Pull it out check the weights and the piston to see if they are free moving.

X2 on the governor - check the gear, too.
Make sure the kickdown switch is functioning correctly.

I don't have a kickdown switch hooked up, didn't know this could cause not to shift into third, when in drive shifts from first to second then nothing. But if I pull my shifter down to first then move to second it shifs then to drive it shifts fine.

Still need help. adjusted new modulator shift better but still no 3 in drive. Ordered gov kit. any suggestion on spring weight 3.73 hears th400

when you take off in drive at what speed does it change gears. and do you have good vacaum. at the modulator least 14+ iom.
