TH400 rebuild questions

Just wondering if anyone has a good site I can get a rebuild kit for a TH400, not sure what year it is just know that it is supposed to bolt right on to my 68 Delta 88 455. Also where I could get a good shift kit and stall converter for it . Oh and any other information on what I would need to swap the tranny out would be helpful thanks

Any of the usual trans specialists can provide the kit you're looking for - B&M, TCI, Art Carr, etc. Be aware that the TH400 comes in different flavors, with different clutch drums and different numbers of clutch disks in the drums. There should be a tag on the side of the case that you can decode to help figure out what you have, though if someone has been inside the trans before, they may have changed out some parts. Hi-perf rebuild kits usually come with the shift kit included. As for the converter, you should select the proper stall speed based on the weight of the car, the axle ratio, the engine, and how you intend to drive it. Simply installing a high-stall converter because everyone says to is the wrong thing to do. For street driving with a nearly stock engine, you want to use a nearly stock stall speed. Increased stall speed means increased converter slippage, particularly at high speeds, so expect to install a large trans cooler as well.

Ok, thanks the stall converter may have to wait then. I plan on changing my axle out, the one I have in now is non-posi and pretty sure the gearing is a weak 2.73 or somethin. And this is the bad thing I hope the tag is still there, the guy I got it from didnt know anything about it either so its kind of unknown all he knew was it came out of a running vehicle haha. And the engine isnt stock either anymore, the internals are stock still so far but its got intake, carb, headers, fully rebuilt cylinder heads and a bunch of other goodies
