TH350 rebuild question

I'm in the middle of a th350 rebuild. I'm trying to get the retaining spring for the low/reverse drum out, and I cant. Maybe its my bad snap ring pliers, maybe I need a better tool. Anyhow, I have the clutch springs compressed (with the compressor tool) and am having trouble getting this ring out. Anyone have a tool/better method for doing this?
Thanks

Are you referring to the low/reverse piston in the back of the case? They can sometimes be a pita to remove! I use snap ring pliers from Mac tools, but any would work as long as the tips are thin enough to fit in the snap ring groove.
