Langy, welcome to our site. This is in your '59? Just verifying for all the readers although personally I can't recommend one way or other in your case. Good luck to you though when you go which ever way.

Its actually in a 32 roadster (i hope that's ok on here) but i would be gratefull for any advice on how good the Dual Hydramatic is compared to the TH350 as i have no experience of them. They seem extremely heavy but very strong

Many thanks
Steve.

Ah another hot rodder I see. Not a problem in my book, putting olds running gear in a Ford is ok by me.

BTW, do yo visit the HAMB also?

By Dual Hydramatic are you referring to the Slim Jim Rotohydramatic behind a 394? If so, then go with a TH 350. I have a Slim Jim in my 64 and it isn't a good transmission. I haven't heard anything good about it and I am planning on getting rid of mine in the near future. I don't know much about the other earlier automatics.

Thanks for that Dan, I did wonder after posting if i was out of order, Yes i do go on the Hamb, I'm interested in any old car really but Olds engines are a favourite, I also have a 303 & 324, I would love to own a 59 88 but they fetch lots of money over here in good condition.

Putting an Olds in a Ford is better than a Ch**y LOL

I believe the Dual Hydramatic is a different autobox to the Slim Jim.
