What year and model of car do you have? This looks like the 1970-72 Cutlass vintage where there's a spring clip on the back of the speedometer head. The cable end that doesn't have a threaded fitting is held on by this clip. If that's what you have I can post a picture of what I'm describing.

I got a 68 442.
Label says it fits 68-72?
In my head it should have the same type of fitting in both ends.Different sizes though.

Bummer! you've got the wrong cable. Yours should have a threaded fitting on each end.

John

Whoever you bought it from is mistaken saying that it will fit the 1968. Do you have an old cable housing you can use as an example to match a new one too? Yes, same threaded fitting on each end but the speedometer end would be a smaller fitting.

Well, you can try to return it. But I'm guessing you bought it from a business over here. So shipping may have been the big ticket item in the purchase. John

Bought it from Inline tube together with a lot of other stuff a while back.
The freight from Norway and back is more than the $22 I payed for the cable.

Well, I know there's some 70-72 Olds owners in Europe that are members here. You might try creating a post in the parts for sale section. John

That's not the only thing in the ILT catalog that's incorrectly labeled. While I don't hold much hope, since it's THEIR mistake, they should send you a correct cable at their cost. Unfortunately, they only build 70-72 cars as far as I've seen.

I had a similar situation with them and they made good on it. It's worth a shot. Chuck is the guy you want to deal with at ILT. Good luck.
