Quick Speedometer Cable Question

Just bought a "universal" fit speedometer cable that won't fit my 77 cutlass. It fits down on the transmission side but at the cruise control box it has the wrong fitting on the end. I've attached a picture. The upper end should have a screw-on fitting but doesn't. Any idea how to solve this problem? Should I buy another cable (and where?) or can the end be swapped off?
Thanks

i believe you need another cable as that is the wrong one. I just bought a speedo cable from rockauto.com and it works like it should.

Any ideas where I could buy one? I did check Rock Auto but they only appear to have the upper cable which I think means it runs from the cruise control to the gauge. I need the lower cable.

Okay, heres something else I was thinking about. Since I'm not going to use the cruise control and I don't even know if it works would it be a dumb idea to just remove it altogether. It would make the engine compartment look a little less cluttered
