Picked up a used 2004R
Looked like a reman converter, fluid, nice and red with an acceptable amount of clutch material. I pulled the pan on the 2004R I picked up. Has the usual beige gear and similar governor to what most these have. I forgot to make note of the colour of the small speedo drive gear. Most seem to be the black 27 tooth gear but last one was a 26 tooth brown gear. I am planning on a CK pump, shift kit with GN billet servo and my 5000 rpm small weight ground down a pinned so it doesn't pop apart. At what power level is a billet pump rotor necessary? This will eventually get a full rebuild with a billet forward shaft and drum down the road behind 500+ ft/lbs potentially.

Install a 10 vane pump rotor and hardened rings from a 700. Install a hardened stator support tube. Depending on how far into the trans your going before installation, a wide band is a good upgrade. Most everything else is covered with the shift kit install.

It is a yellow tag mostly rubbed away, C is visible. I am thinking the CK pump as it has a hardened stator, 10 vane pump and big boost valves. I am thinking his shift kit with GN billet servo copy, just because everyone likes his kit the best. I have always used the big Transgo kit in the past, going with his kit, just to say I tried it. When I slapped together my last pump, only trans I had with a worn stator tube, had to pull it anyways, ironically a recent rebuild. I used the Transgo rings, high rpm spring and a 13 vane pump. I didn't measure the clearances and it bit me. With the .500" and larger reverse boost valves, my shifts were very stock. I put a gauge on it, 235 in reverse, the foward gears 195 psi max. With a.555" boost valve, 215 to 220 psi but a momentary hesitation in pressure, supposedly can happen with the .555" and up. The part throttle shifts were almost totally stock and full throttle were awesome and firm. I assume the CK kit will give me similar according to his description. I am planning a full rebuild in a couple of years with the billet forward drum and all the other parts to survive 500+ ft/lbs. This why I mentioned the billet rotor, at what power level is it necessary? I have the big CK manual, I think it will be my reading material the next while.
