Muncie speedo gears

In my 67 Chassis manual, there is a section that shows different speedometer gearsets for the different ratio rear ends. Some of the drive gears (the one on the output shaft) in some sets have 17 teeth. I have never seen this drive gear in any Muncie and I have been into lots of them. Is this a special trans or just a hard to find gear?

Now you have. It's the purple one. $11 from this vendor.

I agree, the Drive gear is typically 8 or 9 in a Muncie and steel. The driven gear can be a wide range depending on differential. I'm running an 8 drive and 22 driven. Perhaps someone installed a different set somewhere down the line?

Muncie never used a 9 tooth speedo drive gear on the main shaft...

Muncie used 6-7-8 tooth drive gears of different diameters...

ST-10's used 7-8-9 tooth drive gears all the same diameter...

Hope this helps... Crash

LOL. So quick to contradict. I trust you feel strong? I never said Muncie used anything, I said the drive gear is "typically..." Besides, instead of responding to a respondent, address the original question that you never addressed.

None of these replies address my original post. I will try to scan the page I'm referring to from my 67 chassis manual.

My mistake, the larger drive gear is in the automatic transmissions, not the standard shift.
