Muncie M22

Were there any 1968 Oldsmobile that could be ordered with a Muncie M22 transmission? If so, would it have been a 660 casting on the main case?

Only Oldsmobile with an M-22 was a 1971 442 W-30 4 speed car. Did they even make an M-22 in 68 for anything? I was thinking the M-22 come out in 70 or 71? I could be wrong on that part.

Looks like 67 according to the Motor Trend article

"The M20 and M21 transmissions produced from 1963-'74 are easy to identify in both wide- and close-ratio units. The M22 to come later in 1967-'74 is also a close-ratio unit, but much stronger than the M21, with a higher torque capacity."

The M22 was not factory available in any 1968 Olds.

I believe an M22 with-a 220 first gear first came out in 1966..fine spline M22 was the 71 and up trans, 26 spline.

The Muncie M22 first evolved in 1963 for Corvette Grand Sport racing program. In 1965 the first 57 M22s were built for production vehicles.

I thought it was 1966 but after seeing your comment, yes it appeared in a few vettes and other chevrolets I believe in 1965..nice work.

Are you sure that is a Muncie? The code number may have been used but that would have been a BW in 1963. The 1963 Cutlass had an M-20 4 seed option code but it was a BW and not a Muncie.

Interesting info, but I don't know what it has to do with the OP's question.
