Help from the hive please. I'm doing the seals on my 1956 Olds syncro-mesh manual transmission. I'm looking for a better picture of # 86, the selector lever shaft oil seal, GM part # 1166286 (I think), on the first picture posted. My parts manual says it's cork. The second picture explains how it is placed during assembly. The third picture is from an eBay search of the part number. It does not look like it's cork. I can not find any other information on it. Can anyone describe what it looks like, post a picture of it or confirm or deny that
it is the last picture? What solutions can anyone offer?

The seal on E-Bay from Antigo Antique Auto Parts should be the right one.
The picture is very poor, but it looks like it is cork. You may have to soak it in light oil for a day or two before installing it .
The seals that Bill K referenced are shifter shaft seals. ( #82 on the illustration.)

The seal the OP called out in the illustration is located on the top of the page in the 4.302 group.
It's very confusing because GM used the term "selector" in reference to both shafts.
I looked this up yesterday when 1st posted by the OP. I couldn't find an image in the Illustration Catalog but I did find the part number. Likely moot at this point but does demonstrate nomenclature employed.
