Dual Gate Dust Cover

Hi all,

Does anyone know what holds the dust cover for a dual gate shifter in the "locked" or closed position? I installed the dust cover with the spring and it always snaps back to the open position. I think I installed the spring correctly, it clips on to the side rail. If anyone knows how this works, please let me know.

Thanks!

The people at H & H Classic Auto Restorations will know... http://www.hhclassicauto.com/index.html

They specialize in, "The finest quality reproduction parts for Cutlass and 442."

I purchased a plastic shift indicator window for my '67 Holiday Coupe, a couple years ago, at the Olds Homecoming Show in Lansing.

Here are pics of an early GTO dual gate - the forward dust cover slide slot has a notch that holds the cover closed with the spring extended.

Thanks guys,
I'll have to look again at the top of the shifter to see if there is a notch to hold the slider.

Answered my own question

I took a look at my dual gate today and I answered my own question about how the dust cover locks into the closed position. Although hurst68olds gave me a hint. There is a notch where the top piece that the spring attaches to locks in place. My dust cover wasn't sliding all the way to this notch for some reason. It kept hitting the open channel. I just have to lift up on the cover, then it slides in place. Maybe it's too cheep of a reproduction piece.
