Converter mounting bracket hits the flywheel balanc weight.

I see the welded-on balance weight on my 307 flexplate is cut out a little piece in the corner to make the converter fit on the mountinghole correct.

Going to swap a other engine soon on the tranny and have Just installed a new flexplate on it, same as the 307 have, but i dont want to cut out a piece of the new welded-on weight on that flexplate, and im lazy to swap over the 307 flexplate, my guestion is, can i Just cut off a little on the converter mounted bracket instead?

Its not much, so i guess it will not have so much to say? I will post some pics later.
I dont know what converter it is, its bluegreen, all i can say until now..
Have other ppl experience that before?

Here is the pic, i see now again its not aviable to cut something out from converter bracket, only the weight on the flexplate, Well maybe i need to swap this flexplate over on the bbo afterall and reuse it... Bah..

Stupid it is made like this,,, maybe a smaller converter would solve the problem.

converter issue

i think you could space the converter back on all three bolts the thickness of the weight.that style converter tab appears to be a chevy nut/bolt style where the olds is usually a bolt that threads into the converter.i imagine it's aftermarket.

Be sure that after you install the spacers, the nose of the converter remains engaged in the pilot hole in the end of the crank. This is what keeps everything concentric.

Allrighty then, maybe its not a olds converter, But wouldnt the converter be to tight or something when spacing it backward? No risk to damage the Oil pump inside tranny?

Very easy to check. Simply push the converter rearward in the trans until it bottoms. Now check the clearance to the flexplate. So long as the spacers are less than that, you're good.

Had a similar problem when installing my engine. 10 inch converter had two pilot holes in it. The one I was not using came into contact with the weight ( very slightly) on the flexplate. I took an angle grinder to the converter.
My line of thinking was that if the balance was off then i would just replace the converter instead of rebalencing the rotating assembly. It worked well, but maybe I just got lucky.

Here u can see the converter, and i check today to move the converter backwards, i can move it just a little more than the thickness on the flywheel weight so i can use some spacers, maybe just cut out from the weight from my bad flywheel i have on my wall in the garage cause it should be the same thickness.
