And the hits just keep on coming!
And the hits just keep on coming!
If things come in threes then I found our number three. Tonight our van overheated in less than one mile from home. I did not have time to look at it other than the oil. There is no water in the oil thank goodness. I will likely have to change the head gaskets. I don't think it could be anything else to have blown the water out that fast. I am sure it did not help when I was following the ambulance over 90 MPH when they transferred my girl from one hospital to another when she broke her arm last Saturday. This was going to be my parts hauler for the homecoming show.... Not sure what i am doing now. I will test the radiator gases for a blown head gasket in the morning and go from there.
Things don't come in fours do they?
On another note... My girl had another Xray of her arm and the surgeon is very happy with what she sees! This is the most important thing. God is turning things around now I think. Must be testing us?

Glad your daughter is doing well.
Looking at the bright side, better your van dies a mile from your house then chasing the ambulance at 90mph between hospitals.
Sending you some Good Luck

Well, The shop wanted between $1200 and $2000 to do the head gaskets. I decided to do it myself after that. It sucks doing this on a van but after everything else I just couldn't afford that. I spent $180 on getting the heads surfaced flat and pressure checked. $380 in all the gaskets, antifreeze, head bolts, and some other things I wanted to replace while it was apart and already there. I had 3.5 hours taking it apart and just under 9 hours putting it back together. Runs like a top now. Went 120 miles with no bugs to work out. Only problem, I have one bolt left over, I can not figure out where it came from. I thought I labeled everything but I missed this one.
If you were following my other problems... I got a hole cut in the basement floor and added a clean out. My wife was not happy about the smell of two stroke exhaust in the house but the concrete saw was awesome. It cut through concrete like butter. I liked the smell. Reminded me of former race days at the MX track.
The most important thing is my oldest girls arm. They cut off her cast and put on a new one. Her arm was swollen so bad when they casted it the first time that it was to big after the swelling went away. This Friday they are cutting this one off and going to remove some of the pins and recast it again. Looks like we are getting on top of things again. Now just to wait for all the doctor bills. Looks like it will be a while before I can get back to the W-30 project.
