Which Clutch Set Up to buy?

1972 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 4 Speed.

Which Clutch Set Up?

I've had two suggestions: Center Force (Centerforce #DF148552) vs. Ram (Ram Clutches #798-98764)

Or if you have a suggestion.......... I will not be Drag Racing this car. It's main use is to go to car cruises & shows. No spinning tires on this one. Well, maybe just once LOL. Thanks for any help.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with the brands you listed. But wanted to give you a heads up about performance clutches. Since your not racing yours be sure you get one that's going to be street friendly. Years ago I was putting my 1970 442 together and I just had to spend the extra dollars to get a "high performance" clutch. It launched nice but that nothing, nothing, grab! was not fun driving across town stopping at traffic lights. I only ran it a few months then swapped it out for a "normal" clutch assembly. The last one I bought I just went to the local Napa store and purchased what they had on the shelf. John

i used a Center Force in my Rallye 350. i told them i wanted a good clutch but was not going to be racing other than playing on the street now and then. i told them my gearing and engine setup and they recommend the clutch that i went with. i was very happy with it. i am sure the others could do the same thing but i did like how Center Force took the time to listen and make the recommendation.

First of all centerforce does not manufacture there own clutches and they are modified units that they buy. For ram clutches I have no experiance with them.

However, I use the hays street clutch that has a nice soft pedal, quick release, and great quality materials.

Ok, well that's some good advice so far. I have a Zoom Clutch available also. Part Number MU5505-1A which seems to be a factory replacement set. I can buy this with all 4 pieces for $100 which I might just get. Like I said, not going to be racing, I just need to get the transmission into each gear smoothly & not have to have my knee replaced from engaging the clutch with the pedal. Anyone have experience with Zoom Clutch Sets? Thanks again. Brian

Thumbs up

CenterForce all the way.

The pedal effort is light, and the clutch holds great.

i have a CenterForce II in my 442, and it is great.
