Clutch fork

Just purchased a Lakewood bellhousing ( used ) for behind a semi built 455 for my 66 442. Any tips on which fork , throwout and pivot to use. I see a 10" and a 11" fork advertised , so I thought I would throw it out to you guy's. My other question is , has any one had luck with a hyd throw out and if so who's unit do yup recommend. Thank a heap.

I have always used the stock GM/Olds fork and type of throwout bearing. Pivot ball length depends on clutch and on flywheel thickness, anywhere from 1-7/16' (stock) to 1.75" (long GM part).

Fork

Giving what your saying I see that everyone states that they sell the right clutch fork for the A body . The problem is they all are different lengths from 10" to plus 11" so I would ask "what " is the real length of a original clutch fork if I were to order a new one. And thanks again for your input. I got one from the Parts Place and it is like stock, don't know actual length though... Don't remember seeing different sizes from them.

You may need an adjustable pivot stud to get the right geometry.

However, if you do use one, this is IMPORTANT:

Use Loctite on the threads once you determine the correct length.

Failure to do so will could cause you to disassemble everything when the pivot stud comes loose......
