Bop trans to a 394?

will a bop 350 or 400 trans bolt up to a 1962 394 motor or does it need a adapter plate?

No it wont you need an adapter if they exist, there is also a company that sells a Turbo 400 that will bolt up to the 394, very expensive it is.

Ross Racing probably makes one of the best adapters out there. They modify a turbo 400 bellhousing much like the original. They also get a premium for their piece of art..... Tedd

The link Joe provided is for a Chevy transmission, you need to double check for a BOP taransmission.

The Chevy case transmissions are more common than the BOP cases. If you're buying a trans for this swap, it doesn't matter which bellhousing bolt pattern you use. Other than the location of a few bolts, the transmissions are otherwise the same. I assumed the OP was really asking about adapting a 1964-up GM automatic (ie, a TH400).

Here's another supplier. Looks like they might not be doing the conversion now though. It's worth contacting them for some info if your dedicated to swapping to a more modern automatic.

I was asking about the BOP because I could get one for free my buddy.he just pulled a olds diesel out of a 79 Chevy c10 and it has a bop 400 behind it. Looks like most kits are for Chevy adaptor anyway. The slim Jim in my car is still working good.
