Auto Floor Shifter

For those of you who have converted your automatic trans from a column to a floor shifter, did you have to remove the transmission to attach anything? Some of the pictures show the shifter assemblies (Lokar) attached to the transmission like the manual ones. I am thinking about going to B M shifters Thanks

Most automatic shifters bolt to the floor. The only thing that attaches to the trans is the cable linkage.

The Lokar shifters that bolt to the trans case are primarily designed for street rods. The B&M you are considering is a floor mounted cable shifter. There's no need to drop the trans to install the shifter.
