2 flywheels-which one 62 Cutlass 215v8
I am picking up a motor that I purchased off of Craigslist and we have a dilema- There are two flywheels sitting on the ground next to the motor and we are not sure which one is the correct one for the 215 Olds engine. One of them has about 4-5 springs in a circular pattern from the center and the other one has no springs whatso-ever- Please help......
Thanks- Doug

Do your really mean "flywheel"? I've never seen a flywheel with springs.

Almost sounds like a clutch disc? Some have the coil springs spaced around the middle and some don't. The discs that don't are usually more for high performance street applications or racing.
Here's an article with I.D. info on the flywheels, really good tips too.

This is just a pic of a clutch disc and pressure plate, not for a 215, just for example.

After further looking at the two flywheels? they were both so rusted, that we can see marks where the clutch disc has made facing marks on the flywheel, the correct one for the auto trans has no springs in it...
