1968 442 crossmember removal….its stuck...
This may sound like a really moronic question- I'm prepping to remove the original 400 g with T400 transmission. Everything went really well until it came to removing the crossmember- its unbolted, loose yet I'm not sure how to get this thing out. Am I missing something ?
I've worked on many cutlass and 442s over the years and don't recall it being this big of a PIA.
Any guidance or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks- Mike.

THanks for the responses- I was up late trying to make some progress and the of course the very last thing on my list puts up a good fight.
I'll remove the tranny mount and see if that makes a difference (good input)….it almost looked like the member was pinching in between the body and frame. If I need to beat it out I'll try that.
It's a convertible.
Thanks again for the support.
My '67 E motor is all built and ready to drop in…just need to get this ugly motor trans out to make room. Everything I've looked at seems to show that the motor has never been out- car was sitting dead w/blown head gasket since '86 so I guess thats possible.
Installing an AC delete box, a little paint, some new bushings/springs and then start putting her back together.

the trans mount should come out to make it easier... sometimes over the years if a car has been jacked up a lot and put on stands on the front part of the frame it may get a slight bend in the frame channel so you may have to convince it with a hammer a bit to get the crossmember as far forward on one side and as far back on the other and tilt it. it will go back in easier though

Hey Guys- I must have had late night fog in the brain. I removed the tranny mount and crossmember came right out. Sorry for the dumb question!
Old motor and tranny will be out this weekend- hopefully new motor in over Thanksgiving.
Thanks again for the support- Mike

Reason I asked is it seams the 68 Z cars with AC only have one of the horn type relays mounted under the hood. The one on the drivers side which all cars have AC or not which is the horn relay. All the other AC cars have two of these in plain view. One in the normal spot and the AC relay on the passenger side fender in about the same location as the drivers. Just spotted this difference recently so I have not looked to see where the Z cars have their AC relay mounted.
