1964 roto hydramatic a.k.a the slim jim
original filter part number from GM is 6438345. wix has a cross reference number that is in current production of 58877. While it doesn't look identical, it does look like it may work. has anyone tried this? Or real world experience?
thanks.
thanks.
I haven't had a car with a Slim Jim for years. I don't know of any parts interchange for filters. Hopefully someone can tell you for sure.
FWIW, I suggest checking out Fatsco Transmissions for Slim Jim parts. I bought a rebuild kit from them years ago. If you're unable to find a filter you might remove your original and soak it in a bath of fresh ATF for a week or two. This might help flush the nastiness out of the original filter.

Oft times something from a late model that doesnt look identical to the original part and maybe was designed for a different application works well and saves time and money. For example a factory electric fan from a newer car can easily be made to work on an older car for which it was not originally intended. But literally a part number search would not directly state that.
Sorry for the confusuon
