If you have 4 forward speeds (and you should if its a 59) it's not a two speed jet a way. You should check the ATF with engine at operating temp and at a idle... Tedd https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...-manual-90635/

Not a Jetaway?

Thx Ted. It is a four speed. Why do you think, not a Jetaway? Wondering if 300,314 or what version? Thanks, Lex

The term " Jetaway " is confusing . Because Oldsmobile used it twice on two very different transmissions .
Olds first used it in their advertising and sales literature on the four speed "dual coupling " transmission built between 1956 and 1960 .
Then the term was dropped until 1964 , when it was used on the two speed automatic transmission built only for F-85 ( and Cutlass ) models .

As far as what model you have , give us the info on the tag attached to the side of your trans .
Someone may be able to de-code it .

As far as I know the cases were the same, some internal parts were upgraded.56 year had issues with soft parts but I think by 57 everything was resolved......Tedd
