1956 flexplate problem
my wife has a 1656 98 holiday the flex plate is making a clugging sound. i took it to a mechanic and that is what we were told my problem is finding a flex plate for the car im really not sure what trans is in the car the car is all original. thanks if some one knows where i can start looking for one or where to start thanks
I'm not familiar with the '56 but you might try Kanter Auto Products: www.kanter.com. You can call them for specific parts requests that may not be in their online catalog.
If you have a P on the column for PARK, you have the jetaway trans. If you Have no P on the column, and instead put in reverse to park it, you have the older hydramatic trans. Both were used in 56.
Thanks for the responce to my flex plate it dosnt look like kanter auto on thetre website showes anything but i will call them there is a (p) on the colum for parking so i guess i have the jetway tranny so that a start thanks again.
Reason why I said it might be same is because 57-60 flexplates will fit, but they may have weights on them, since the 57-60 Olds engines are externally balanced.
