67 Toronado Half Shafts
67 Toronado Half Shafts
Are the left and right CV joint half shafts the same in the 67?
I know for my 78 Eldorado, both sides are the same. I do see different part numbers, but who knows. Maybe they are interchangeable?

Were you asking about the CV joint itself or the entire axle shafts? I pulled the engine/transaxle out of a 1967 Toronado last Fall and here's what the axle shafts look like. I'm sorry I don't remember for sure, but I think it was the passengerside that had the extra weight/damper thingy on it. John

John,
If I recall correctly, that damper is specific to 1966 only and was designed in to counter some of the effects of a high horsepower FWD application. I believe it was considered over engineering and was eliminated thereafter.

In a 30-40 year old car its very possible the shaft was swapped in when the original CV joints went bad.
