There was one of these in a neighboring town when I first moved here, late 1970's vintage. I think they scrapped it. At the time I didn't have the extra money to buy it.

 

That is cool. That toronado drive train as lent its self to some highly fabricated custom vehicles through the years. Everything from small trucks to volkswagens.

I have read dicussions about the limos built around it also, probably right here on this site. The neatest story I can recall is with the factory snow/ice melters. These were basically two ended toros with torches used at the factory to melt snow off of rail car carriers.
I know that last statement really needs pics. Hopefully they are here somewhere.

 

I've seen pictures of airport limo Toronados before (like the last one Don shared). Definitely cool!

 

It would be cool to drive into a car show area with an potential winning Olds mounted on the trailer,but might cause problems getting there,because some "Olds Fanatics" like me might run off the road while checking it out. Larry

 

There was the recent article in JWO that highlighted the person who restored one. There was a picture of all eight doors in his dining room.

 

I saw a 1966 made into a car hauler for sale at the Canfield swap meet around 17 years ago. It was white also. I thought about buying a 1973 Toro that had only 40K mileage for $2500 about 6 years ago and turning it into a car hauler. The last thing I need is another project so I didn't.
