Fitting a 72 cutlass convertible
The 1973 Toro motor will fit just fine. You will need to change the oil filter adapter and the exhaust manifolds, you can use the Toro intake but I've heard a mixed review on their performance. The 1973 will be a low compression engine but if you decide to rebuild it at some future date you can put whatever compression pistons you want in it. The heads will be J's which can be made to flow well or you could swap on a set of older big block heads. Toronado's also have larger oil pans, but due to the front axle there's a separation between the front and rear of the pan. I've heard of people heating it with a torch and hammering it down so the oil can flow back into the lowest part of the pan. You can also change over the pan and oil pickup from your 350 engine.
The Toronado had front wheel drive but the engine was still facing the same direction as your Cutlass. John

Great!!!!
I'm contemplating on buying the motor off of craigslist down here in the bay area. He definitely had a sale until I heard the year. I already have a 1970 455 with E heads that I'm getting rebuilt
